Obstetrics Care
“I firmly believe that every birth is a unique event and therefore you should receive personalised care not only during the birth but throughout pregnancy, labour, as well as the days that follow.”
Congratulations! You are ready to go on a nine month journey.
As a father of two as well as an obstetrician who has assisted with thousands of births over the past two decades, I understand that pregnancy can be a joyful yet a stressful time. There are so many questions you want to ask, so many “what if's” you want to get clarified, but have no fear!
I will always guide, educate and provide you the best care possible throughout your pregnancy and beyond.
Here are the basic steps you will have to follow as you embark on your pregnancy journey.
Step 1 : Visit your GP for your initial check up and get a referral to my rooms.
Step 2 : Call the rooms. My receptionist will discuss a suitable time for your initial visit.
Step 3: Your first appointment with me.
All my appointments will be face-to-face.
During your initial visit, I will discuss with you the care model of your choice and about scheduling of the subsequent visits.

If your pregnancy is covered by your insurance or you are happy to self fund, you could register at St John of God Hospital-Berwick for the delivery. You would receive exceptional care at the new maternity unit with state of the art facilities and a dedicated team of midwives and nurses. As your chosen obstetrician, I would schedule visits at different stages in the pregnancy and I would attend to the delivery of your baby.
-
If you do not have private health insurance or your health insurance does not cover delivery, you can choose the private in public care model where you will self fund the pregnancy management fee. You will be seeing me at my private suites for your pregnancy visits and I will attend to your delivery at a Monash Health Hospital (Casey Hospital/Dandenong Hospital).
-
You still are eligible for the Private in Public care model. You can consult me at my private suites for your pregnancy visits and I will attend to your delivery at a Monash Health Hospital (Casey Hospital/Dandenong Hospital)
-
Non-Hospital Obstetrics Care is available for patients who prefer to see me for visits throughout pregnancy at my private suites, but who will not deliver at a private hospital.
This care model is suitable for patients who do not have private health insurance or Medicare cover. It is designed to meet your needs and provide options that best suit you and your family.
Delivery can be at the hospital of Monash Health that you are registered at.

To provide families with time to plan and prepare for the arrival of their baby, your pregnancy management fee is payable in two instalments, at 20 weeks and at 30 weeks.
For these two instalments of the pregnancy management fee as well as the initial visit, there will be an out-of-pocket fee, the difference between my charges and the Medicare Benefit Schedule rebate (MBS rebate).
However, there is no gap for your antenatal appointments (about 10 visits) or for your delivery.
Please note, additional out-of-pocket payments might be incurred for ultrasound scans and for services of other medical specialists e.g. paediatrician, anaesthetist, or endocrinologist if their service’s are required).

You can make an informed choice about the delivery that you are comfortable with, including elective caesarean section upon request.
